Word and Image: Comics Infographic

MGD 2035 Word and Image: Comics is a class offered at Pikes Peak State College. The class itself teaches students how to create and ink comics. For this video, the instructor needed an infographic that would showcase what the class has to offer and when you can expect it.

Given that it is a comic class, I wanted the video to have a comic book theme. I achieved this with comic fonts and video effects like the speed lines. These serve to create excitement for students watching the video as well as speak to the target audience of students who are interested in creating comics.

More technical effects like the text being “typed” in or the comic book looking as if it is falling onto a desk help keep the video engaging and intriguing. The video is only 30 seconds long and in that 30 seconds it describes what MGD 2035 is, how you can enroll, why you should enroll, and includes a call to action, but does so in a way that does not overwhelm any viewers. Each section of the video features ample negative space that includes photos of creations the class has to offer, and a promise that any students that enroll will take home a similar one by the end.
